Wesley “Wes” L. Deskin of Houston received a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a specialization in finance from Tulane University in New Orleans Aug. 9.
Deskin was one of 34 summer graduates in the Tulane MBA program. He was selected for membership in Beta Gamma Sigma International Honor Society for Collegiate Schools of Business, and graduated in the top 20 percent of his class with a grade-point average of 3.83.
Deskin is a 1992 graduate of Karnes City High School, where he was on the varsity football and baseball teams and was a member of the National Honor Society. He graduated from Sam Houston State University in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an overall grade-point average of 3.85. While there, he was a member of Theta Chi social fraternity and the Order of Omega, a scholarship society. He was on the dean’s list for four consecutive years. He was a student government senator and participated in all intramural sports.
After college, Deskin was employed with Pennzoil, then Koch Energy Trading Corp. He is currently vice president of risk control for Merrill-Lynch Energy Trading.
He is married to Louiza Deskin of Houston and is the son of Annie M. and U.S. Army Lt. Col. Gary L. Deskin, retired, of Karnes City. He is the grandson of Lillian H. Deskin of Karnes City and the late Leonard L. Deskin.
