As part of its strengthened programmes for women's empowerment and gender equality, UNIFEM is recruiting 6 Deputy Regional Programme Directors for sub-regional offices in Africa, Asia and the Arab States. Reporting to the Regional Programme Director, the deputy will provide technical advice on gender to governments and civil society and help manage UNIFEM-supported programmes in the region, including preparation and appraisal of new programmes, oversight of ongoing programmes and support to UN country teams. She/he will supervise UNIFEM's programme's staff and offices in the region, build partnerships and mobilize resources.
Minimum qualifications and experience include: a Master's degree; 7 years performance record in contributing to development results; strong understanding fo and proven experience in women's rights; a participatory and open management style with strong interpersonal skills; excellent communication skills in English and preferably in another relevant language.
