Open houses scheduled for MBA, OM graduate business programs

05-29-08
Misericordia University will host two open houses for adults interested in exploring a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree or a Master of Science degree in Organizational Management (OM). Both programs are offered in part-time formats and can be completed in as little as two and a half years or less.
The first MBA and OM Open House will be held Thursday, June 19, from 5-7 p.m. at the Exchange Building, 100 W. Broad St., Hazleton. A second open house will be held Thursday, June 26, from 5-7 p.m., in the McGowan Room of the Mary Kintz Bevevino Library at the Misericordia campus at 301 Lake St., Dallas.

Faculty form the College of Professional Studies and Social Sciences and representatives form the Misericordia University Center for Adult and Continuing Education, financial aid and career services departments will be available at both sessions to answer questions.

“These two degree programs are designed for adults who already hold a bachelor’s degree and are looking to advance their careers,” says Corina Mihai, Ph.D., director of business graduate programs at Misericordia University. “Our new MBA program provides an ethical perspective of the business world and gives graduates a competitive edge in the very tough, current job market. Specializations include management, accounting and human resources management.”

The OM program is also designed for those looking to move ahead in their careers. It provides the professional manager the ability to analyze problems, synthesize solutions and communicate decisions in both for-profit and non-profit management settings. Students can choose from four OM specializations: management, marketing, human resources and information technology.

Keeping in mind the needs of busy working adults who are often juggling academics, careers and family, the OM program classes are offered in a variety of formats both on campus, on-line and one weekend per month in Hazleton.

The MBA classes are currently held weeknights at the campus in Dallas and will be offered on-line starting in the spring of 2009.

For those who begin classes in the fall of 2008, tuition for these part-time programs will remain the same through spring of 2011.
