MBA Job Opening: Deputy Director for the Bill & Mellinda Gates Foundation


Position: Deputy Director, Global Health Policy & Finance
Location: Seatle, Washington

The mission of the Global Health Program at the Bill & Mellinda Gates Foundation is to improve health in the poorest regions of the world by ensuring that lifesaving advances are developed and shared with those who need them most. We are seeking a Deputy Director for the Global Health Policy and Finance Team, a unit within the Global Health Policy and Advocacy division.

The Deputy Director manages a professional team focused on creating and managing innovative financial solutions to global health program needs, as well as developing a policy research program to increase the effectiveness of spending on both R&D and health delivery. The team's grantmaking aims to increase and improve international financing channels for global health and build the policy foundations to drive sound decision-making among public and private funders of global health. The Deputy Director also serves as a focal point for key relationships across foundations programs and with external partners such as donor finance ministries and multilateral development institutions.

The successful candidate will bring a PhD in Economics or Finance, and at least 15 years experience in technical and management positions in development finance and/or R&D policy and finance. We are looking for a collaborative leader with a strong track record of innovative ideas translated to action, an experienced manager of high-performing teams in times of growth, and a highly-regarded professional with existing senior relationships in both the public and private sectors.
