MBA Job Opening: Head of Economics and Strategy at Advantage West Midlands


Salary: £47,186 - £58,893

Advantage West Midlands is the regional leader for developing economic prosperity. With an annual budget of circa £300 million and 300 staff, we are transforming the region's economy and creating a better region in which to invest, work, learn, visit, and live. One of our key roles is to produce and constantly review an effective economic stratgy for the region. So expert economic analysis plays a key role in everything we do.

The person who joins us in this rolewill enjoy huge influence at an extremely significant time for the region. The current west midlands economic strategy, updated in 2007, together with the west midlands spatial strategy will form the basis for the development of the first single integrated strategy for the west midlands. Moreover, the creation of the post of minister for the west midlands region brings added focus to our plans.

Delivering professional economic analysis, wider policy advice, and thought leadership, you'll have a substantial role in the development and review of the new single regional strategy and support the work of the minister for the west midlands region. Influencing activity across the region, you'll interpret changes in economic conditions and play a crucial part in ensuring that policy and strategy development is evidence based.

A post graduate degree in Economics, or closely related subject and evidence of post qualification professional development, you'll have experience of applying economic and policy analysis to real world situations, contributing to the development of economic strategies and providing thought leadership to senior management and politicians. So you'll have the written and verbal communication skills to communicate complex analysis clearly and concisely and the presence to represent us to senior people. you'll also have a good understanding of the context in which we work.
